THE SIDEMEN GO TOO FAR!
(Zentral Records 2006)
Dear friends and followers of The Sidemen,
not without pride do I announce to you today the release of The Sidemen’s first long-playing CD album into the wide open space.
It’s called “The Sidemen go too far!” and let me tell you: This title fits the content of the album like an old fashioned bathing cap. If you’ve seen the band on stage (and we’re awfully sorry if you haven’t yet!) I don’t have to tell you that the tunes sound as if they’d been put in a time capsule in the late fifties which had been cracked open by use of a flux capacitor consuming 1.21 Gigawatts. Now the Instro Gentlemen managed to reproduce this energy in the studio and put it on a shiny little disc which they neatly placed in a classy digipack (that’s the cardboard thing with
a tray).
Well, in what other respect do The Sidemen go too far you ask? I’d say
in all others! They recorded the record in his own studio, produced the record themselves, did the pictures and artwork themselves, founded a label to release it on and paid for the whole thing from their own pockets. I guess it doesn’t get more independent, does it? Oh, yes, I forgot: To top it off, the distribution’s in their hands, too. Well, actually, they put me in charge since the guys are already engrossed in their work again.
Have a nice day,
Yours
Prof. B. Yond
